| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: mwifiex: fix memory leak in mwifiex_histogram_read()
Always free the zeroed page on return from 'mwifiex_histogram_read()'. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
s390: Disable ARCH_WANT_OPTIMIZE_HUGETLB_VMEMMAP
As reported by Luiz Capitulino enabling HVO on s390 leads to reproducible
crashes. The problem is that kernel page tables are modified without
flushing corresponding TLB entries.
Even if it looks like the empty flush_tlb_all() implementation on s390 is
the problem, it is actually a different problem: on s390 it is not allowed
to replace an active/valid page table entry with another valid page table
entry without the detour over an invalid entry. A direct replacement may
lead to random crashes and/or data corruption.
In order to invalidate an entry special instructions have to be used
(e.g. ipte or idte). Alternatively there are also special instructions
available which allow to replace a valid entry with a different valid
entry (e.g. crdte or cspg).
Given that the HVO code currently does not provide the hooks to allow for
an implementation which is compliant with the s390 architecture
requirements, disable ARCH_WANT_OPTIMIZE_HUGETLB_VMEMMAP again, which is
basically a revert of the original patch which enabled it. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
blk-mq: release crypto keyslot before reporting I/O complete
Once all I/O using a blk_crypto_key has completed, filesystems can call
blk_crypto_evict_key(). However, the block layer currently doesn't call
blk_crypto_put_keyslot() until the request is being freed, which happens
after upper layers have been told (via bio_endio()) the I/O has
completed. This causes a race condition where blk_crypto_evict_key()
can see 'slot_refs != 0' without there being an actual bug.
This makes __blk_crypto_evict_key() hit the
'WARN_ON_ONCE(atomic_read(&slot->slot_refs) != 0)' and return without
doing anything, eventually causing a use-after-free in
blk_crypto_reprogram_all_keys(). (This is a very rare bug and has only
been seen when per-file keys are being used with fscrypt.)
There are two options to fix this: either release the keyslot before
bio_endio() is called on the request's last bio, or make
__blk_crypto_evict_key() ignore slot_refs. Let's go with the first
solution, since it preserves the ability to report bugs (via
WARN_ON_ONCE) where a key is evicted while still in-use. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/irdma: Cap MSIX used to online CPUs + 1
The irdma driver can use a maximum number of msix vectors equal
to num_online_cpus() + 1 and the kernel warning stack below is shown
if that number is exceeded.
The kernel throws a warning as the driver tries to update the affinity
hint with a CPU mask greater than the max CPU IDs. Fix this by capping
the MSIX vectors to num_online_cpus() + 1.

PCI: Fix pci_device_is_present() for VFs by checking PF
pci_device_is_present() previously didn't work for VFs because it reads the
Vendor and Device ID, which are 0xffff for VFs, which looks like they
aren't present. Check the PF instead.
Wei Gong reported that if virtio I/O is in progress when the driver is
unbound or "0" is written to /sys/.../sriov_numvfs, the virtio I/O
operation hangs, which may result in output like this:
task:bash state:D stack: 0 pid: 1773 ppid: 1241 flags:0x00004002

This happened because pci_device_is_present(VF) returned "false" in
virtio_pci_remove(), so it called virtio_break_device(). The broken vq
meant that vring_interrupt() skipped the vq.callback() that would have
completed the virtio I/O operation via virtblk_done().

void btrfs_put_transaction(struct btrfs_transaction *transaction)

&transaction->delayed_refs.dirty_extent_root));

}
The warning happens because btrfs_qgroup_destroy_extent_records(), called
in the transaction abort path, we free all entries from the rbtree
"dirty_extent_root" with rbtree_postorder_for_each_entry_safe(), but we
don't actually empty the rbtree - it's still pointing to nodes that were
freed.
So set the rbtree's root node to NULL to avoid this warning (assign
RB_ROOT). |

net/sched: ets: Remove drr class from the active list if it changes to strict
Whenever a user issues an ets qdisc change command, transforming a

one, that class will be added twice to the active list [1].

For simplicity address the problem by adding PCI_IOBASE to the physical
address requested in the respective wrapper macros only, observing that
the raw accessors such as `__insb', `__outsb', etc. are not supposed to
be used other than by said macros. Remove the cast to `long' that is no
longer needed on `addr' now that it is used as an offset from PCI_IOBASE
and add parentheses around `addr' needed for predictable evaluation in
macro expansion. No need to make said adjustments in separate changes
given that current code is gravely broken and does not ever work. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Skip scalar adjustment for BPF_NEG if dst is a pointer
In check_alu_op(), the verifier currently calls check_reg_arg() and
adjust_scalar_min_max_vals() unconditionally for BPF_NEG operations.
However, if the destination register holds a pointer, these scalar
adjustments are unnecessary and potentially incorrect.
This patch adds a check to skip the adjustment logic when the destination
register contains a pointer. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
block: fix race between wbt_enable_default and IO submission
When wbt_enable_default() is moved out of queue freezing in elevator_change(),
it can cause the wbt inflight counter to become negative (-1), leading to hung
tasks in the writeback path. Tasks get stuck in wbt_wait() because the counter
is in an inconsistent state.
The issue occurs because wbt_enable_default() could race with IO submission,
allowing the counter to be decremented before proper initialization. This manifests
as:
rq_wait[0]:
inflight: -1
has_waiters: True
rwb_enabled() checks the state, which can be updated exactly between wbt_wait()
(rq_qos_throttle()) and wbt_track()(rq_qos_track()), then the inflight counter
will become negative.
And results in hung task warnings like:
task:kworker/u24:39 state:D stack:0 pid:14767
Call Trace:
rq_qos_wait+0xb4/0x150
wbt_wait+0xa9/0x100
__rq_qos_throttle+0x24/0x40
blk_mq_submit_bio+0x672/0x7b0
...
Fix this by:
1. Splitting wbt_enable_default() into:
- __wbt_enable_default(): Returns true if wbt_init() should be called
- wbt_enable_default(): Wrapper for existing callers (no init)
- wbt_init_enable_default(): New function that checks and inits WBT
2. Using wbt_init_enable_default() in blk_register_queue() to ensure
proper initialization during queue registration
3. Move wbt_init() out of wbt_enable_default() which is only for enabling
disabled wbt from bfq and iocost, and wbt_init() isn't needed. Then the
original lock warning can be avoided.
4. Removing the ELEVATOR_FLAG_ENABLE_WBT_ON_EXIT flag and its handling
code since it's no longer needed
This ensures WBT is properly initialized before any IO can be submitted,
preventing the counter from going negative. |

ocfs2: fix kernel BUG in ocfs2_find_victim_chain
syzbot reported a kernel BUG in ocfs2_find_victim_chain() because the
`cl_next_free_rec` field of the allocation chain list (next free slot in
the chain list) is 0, triggring the BUG_ON(!cl->cl_next_free_rec)
condition in ocfs2_find_victim_chain() and panicking the kernel.
To fix this, an if condition is introduced in ocfs2_claim_suballoc_bits(),
just before calling ocfs2_find_victim_chain(), the code block in it being
executed when either of the following conditions is true:
1. `cl_next_free_rec` is equal to 0, indicating that there are no free
chains in the allocation chain list
2. `cl_next_free_rec` is greater than `cl_count` (the total number of
chains in the allocation chain list)
Either of them being true is indicative of the fact that there are no
chains left for usage.
This is addressed using ocfs2_error(), which prints
the error log for debugging purposes, rather than panicking the kernel. |

It complains about acquiring a local_lock while holding a raw_spin_lock.
It means it should not allocate memory while holding a raw_spin_lock
since it is not safe for RT.
raw_spin_lock is needed because bpf_local_storage supports tracing
context. In particular for task local storage, it is easy to
get a "current" task PTR_TO_BTF_ID in tracing bpf prog.
However, task (and cgroup) local storage has already been moved to
bpf mem allocator which can be used after raw_spin_lock.
The splat is for the sk storage. For sk (and inode) storage,
it has not been moved to bpf mem allocator. Using raw_spin_lock or not,
kzalloc(GFP_ATOMIC) could theoretically be unsafe in tracing context.
However, the local storage helper requires a verifier accepted
sk pointer (PTR_TO_BTF_ID), it is hypothetical if that (mean running
a bpf prog in a kzalloc unsafe context and also able to hold a verifier
accepted sk pointer) could happen.
This patch avoids kzalloc after raw_spin_lock to silent the splat.
There is an existing kzalloc before the raw_spin_lock. At that point,
a kzalloc is very likely required because a lookup has just been done
before. Thus, this patch always does the kzalloc before acq
